オーストラリアの祝祭日「Good Friday」。

商業施設や公共施設の休業日の欄に、クリスマスと共に記載されているグッドフライデー。一大イベントのクリスマスと並んでいるなんて、これは相当大事な祝日に違いない！

ということで、この日がどういった意味を持っているのかチェックしてみました。

イースター連休に関しては州によって若干の違いがあるようですが、グッドフライデーは全州共通で休日とされています。

毎年違う？Good Friday およびイースターの日にち

まずはグッドフライデーとイースターがいつなのか調べてみると、どのサイトでも「今年は ○月○日ですよー」という感じで告知されていました。

え？「今年」は？

ということは毎年違うの？？

グッドフライデーを皮切りにイースターへと突入し、通して４日間の連休となる構成は変わらないようですが、その日にち設定は年毎に異なるそうです。

日本で言えば、文化の日は今年も来年も11月3日なの！という固定スタイルとは違いますよというお話。

では日にちはどうやって決まるのか。

それはなんと月のサイクルによって決まる！

The date if Easter is dependent on the lunar cycle. Easter Sunday falls on the first Sunday after the first full moon that occurs on or after the March equinox. This puts Easter Sunday between the end of March and the end of April, depending on the year. In total, Easter is a celebration that spans over a 50-day period. It begins with Ash Wednesday and ends with Easter Sunday with many Easter-related events in between.

ここで日本語での呼び方と合わせて見ていきたいと思います。

Good Friday = 聖金曜日

「Good」の対訳がなぜ「聖」となるのか腑に落ちませんが、フランス語だと「Vendredi Saint」とされているのでそうなのでしょう。詳細略。

この日はイエス・キリストが十字架にかけられた日。

Good Friday is the beginning of the Australian Easter holiday long weekend and is the day when Christians commemorate the crucifixion and death of Jesus Christ. 「受難日」「受苦日」と呼ばれているのがまさにグッドフライデーなのですね。

おかしいなー、私「Passsion」を震えながら観たにも関わらず🎞️今の今までグッドフライデーと結びつけていなかった！

映画の描写が恐ろしすぎてほとんどスクリーンを観られなかったせいでしょうか。

なんなら意識を失っていたかもしれない...(＠Д＠)
